ZACH HULL

A Willamette Valley native, Zach grew up in Salem, attended Reed College in Portland, and Law School at the University of Oregon School of Law. Zach is currently the Vice President of Business Development at Tixie, a consumer engagement technology company based in Portland, where he is also busy raising his two year old son. In his free time, Zach enjoys riding motorcycles with the Sang-Froid Riding Club, and Oregon non-profit which Zach co-founded in 2001. 

 

LEE SHAKER

Lee is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Portland State. He studies how the relationship between cities and their citizens is changing as a result of new media technologies. As a board member of the MISC, he aspires to empower a new generation of citizen voices in Portland and beyond. 

 

MICHAEL SMYTHE

 Michael Grew up in Texas.  He spent the hot summers hiding in the projection booth of various movie theaters especially he Dobie Theater in Austin.  While in Austin, michael was an early Assistant Director of the SXSW Film Festival, and he received his MA from the Dept. of Radio-Television –Film there as well.  Since then michael has worked in Media companies big and small, from tiny Portland start-ups to the behemoth Virgin Media in the UK.  Most recently he is working with Piano Media, helping out online newspapers.

 

SARA RASMUSSEN

Sara is the Digital Inclusion Fellow at Free Geek, a nonprofit that transforms used technology into opportunity, education, and community. As an alum of the summer documentary program, she uses many of the skills she learned in her day-to-day work. Across all her work, Sara sees technology—and technical skills—as a critical tool for social justice.
